The brainchild of this fundraiser came last week after a conversation one of CHHP's business associates, Omid Malek, had with Dr. Jack Kreindler who is currently looking after 'the forgotten patients of the NHS'; the cancer sufferers. Working to help patients who need our local hospitals including The Whittington, UCH, The Royal Free & St. Thomas' Hospital's in London, Dr Jack described the current situation to Omid as a 'nightmare'. He stated that most cancer treatments had ground to a halt because of the current pandemic; with shortages of respiratory masks cancer patient's lives are at risk, not because of COVID-19, but because doctors do not have the protective equipment to get close to them and give them the care they need. Nor can patients attend hospital or clinic for tests and treatment without the right protection. This prompted the Malek family to immediately give £5000 in thousands of N95 masks to distribute between NHS and CHHP's cancer patients and work colleagues at the respective hospitals. The donation was made in memory of Mostafa Malek, who passed away from cancer in October 2019.
Surgical masks that protect frontline workers against COVID-19's small airborne particles are already in short supply. It is therefore imperative that N95 masks are sourced and supplied to those who are faced with daily exposure of the virus. Hospitals are facing unprecedented shortages of personal protective equipment for workers and patients alike, therefore as private citizens with business expertise overseas, we are able to cut through the bureaucratic red tape, procure masks quickly, and ship them to hospitals in need.
Substantial resources and funds have already been dedicated to jump-start this initiative that can provide thousands of masks to protect NHS workers and their most vulnerable patients. For every donation above £1000 the donor can specify which hospital(s)they would like the N95 masks to go to and we will make the necessary arrangements.
100% of your donation will go directly to the purchase of N95 masks for healthcare professionals and the people they are focused on saving the lives of. Lets help our NHS and all other cancer doctors, nurses and patients. Thank you!
